چکیده
Bioaccumulation of any heavy metal above its maximum limits invariably results tothe detrimental health an organism. This present study was carried out to evaluatethe levels eight metals (Fe, Pb, Mn, Ni, Cu, Zn, Cr and Cd) in surface water, sediment bioaccumulation index (Chrysicthys walkeri) from Warri River, DeltaState, Nigeria. Samples were collected between the period July September,2015 two designated stations. The order mean rank profile, insurface water, sediment fish Pb>Mn>Fe>Zn>Cr>Cd>Ni>Cu;Fe>Zn>Ni>Cu>Mn>Cd>Pb>Cr Pb>Ni>Zn>Mn>Cd>Fe>Cr>Cu respectively. When compared with regulatory standards WHO, FAO FEPA threshold limitmost for both Tissue. The BI ? 1.0 indicating possibility ofecological concern. These findings implies that River is polluted andconsumption these fishes could have grave consequences even theexcellent condition factor fishes. Therefore, input pollutants into this rivershould be monitored avoid associated risks

Distribution of lindane in water, sediment, and fish from the warri river of the niger delta, Nigeria.
This paper is the first attempt to quantify the levels and the distribution pattern of lindane in the surface water, sediment and fish (Chrysichthys furcatus and Tilapia zilli). The samples were collected from three stations (Ovwian, Ekakpamre, and Ovu) of the Warri River in the western Niger Delta of Nigeria in 2006: during the dry (January-April) and wet seasons (May-August). The analysis inc...

metals bioaccumulation in five organs of cirrhinus mrigala , labeo rohita and catla catla captured from three industrial and sewage polluted downstream sites (shahdera = b, sunder = c and balloki = d) were compared with a non-industrial upstream site (siphon = a) during high (post monsoon) and low (winter) flow seasons of river ravi. mean concentrations of metals were significantly higher in ...

The interaction between man's activities and the environment is gaining world wide attention. Warri an oil producing community in Delta State of Nigeria is faced with environmental oil pollution. Since open and underground water bodies are regarded as final recipients of most environmental pollutants, this study sought to provide data on the levels of the physico-chemical parameters and contami...
متن کاملInvestigation of heavy metals accumulation in the sediment and body of carp fish in Aras River
Heavy metals are considered as the most dangerous water contaminants because of their possibility of bioaccumulation and toxic effects. This study tried to investigate the bio-availability of heavy metals in terms of Ni, Zn, Cu, Fe, Hg, Cd, and Pb in the sediment during dry seasons in Aras River basin located in Ardabil Province, north-west of Iran. Also the metal concentration in the skin and ...
